Innovation in radiosurgery at Lariboisière

Within the framework of a health cooperation group, the AP-HP Nord-Université de Paris Cité GHU (Lariboisière, Saint Louis and Beaujon hospitals) and the Institut de Radiothérapie Hartmann (ELSAN Group) are cooperating to provide patients with cutting-edge technology designed to
radiosurgical treatment of tumor and non-tumor pathologies of the head and neck.

What is radiosurgery?

Radiosurgery is a therapeutic modality that involves high-precision irradiation of a brain lesion by means of a crossing of mini X-ray beams.
This technique is particularly useful for treating deep-seated tumors for which surgery would be too dangerous. It can sometimes be proposed as an alternative to a procedure. It is preferentially proposed for small or medium lesions.

A simplified care pathway
In 2025, with the installation of a ZAP-X on the Lariboisière site, the range of therapeutic tools available to the neurosurgery teams at both Hôpital Lariboisière and Hôpital Beaujon will complete the offer of this center of excellence and contribute to simplifying care paths. The expertise of neurosurgeons from the Lariboisière and Beaujon hospitals and radiotherapists from the Institut de Radiothérapie Hartmann and Hôpital Saint Louis will be pooled on a single site around a single innovative project.

The latest-generation particle gas pedal is self-shielded and delivers radiation under gyroscopic conditions, and will be operated by qualified radiation oncology specialists. Radiotherapists at Hôpital Saint-Louis and the Hartmann Institute will perform treatments in Sector 1, with no extra charges.
